West Pasco Little League Families,
The WPLL Board of Directors will be communicating updates about Pine Hill Park, the home of West Pasco Little League for over 50 years, renovation plans using this link moving forward. Please know that changes to the plan may occur but WPLL is committed to updating our families as WPLL is made aware of any updates. Pine Hill Park is set to close for renovations on May 1, 2024, following the conclusion of the WPLL 2024 Spring program. For many years Pine Hill Park was only maintained by the county; however, Pine Hill Park is now owned and maintained by the great individuals at Pasco County Parks Recreation & Natural Resources, PCPRNR. PCPRNR has made plans for a project set to take approximately 10-months which will cost over $4-million dollars. These plans will transform the complex at Pine Hill Park to one worthy of the community of West Pasco, who call WPLL home. To be clear, WPLL is grateful for the opportunity to serve the West Pasco community and even more delighted to do so in a complex worthy of the loyalty the West Pasco community has shown WPLL for over 70 years. Here are the project details as they are today:
THE RENOVATION
Tear down & rebuild, slight relocation, the concession and restroom buildings as one building.
Tear down & rebuild the PCPRNR building (close to F4), relocating it closer to Pine Hill Road.
Tear down & replace all fencing throughout the entire complex.
Tear down & replace all dugouts
Renovate field 2 surface as was done with F1, F3, F4.
Renovate all bullpens/soft toss to full size cages/bullpen on each side of every field.
Update all complex lighting, including field lights, with new LED technology.
Replace all scoreboards.
Replace all spectator bleachers.
Add shade covers above all spectator bleachers.
Relocate the Plummer Field memorial structure
Adding a flag pole that will be visible from all fields of play.
Adding additional concrete pavement/walkways throughout the complex.
These are the more significant aspects of the upcoming renovations to Pine Hill Park. In addition, some items listed above entail more detail to complete including but not limited to irrigation and electrical work. Originally PCPRNR plan was to complete this work in stages; however, the decision was made to complete it in one large project for the benefit of the West Pasco community.
West Pasco Little League Plans
Given the extensive plans to remodel Pine Hill Park the common question is what are the plans for your children and the program at WPLL during these renovations? Your league volunteers have been working behind the scenes to coordinate with PCPRNR and your elected officials along with fellow WPLL Board of Directors to ensure WPLL will have every upcoming season to offer Little League baseball. Make no mistake about WPLL intentions are to offer continued memories and experiences for the community and children of West Pasco and their families.
2024 Fall & 2025 Spring
The 2024 Fall season will be held at Veterans Memorial Park.
WPLL aims to secure some nights/days at Oak Ridge Park, for the 2024 Fall season & 2025 Spring preseason, if needed.
Veterans Memorial & Oak Ridge are the two parks used during other field renovations.
In the event these two parks are not sufficient for all WPLL divisions we will explore other options partnering with District 12 and PCPRNR to support our program.
Pricing for the 2024 Fall season will be set as early as possible. The pricing will encourage families to continue supporting the WPLL program to ensure the children continue to engage in youth sport activities in the West Pasco community.
An emphasis on fundraising will be a key component to assist the WPLL program.
Pricing for the 2025 Spring season will thereafter be set as early as possible. Pricing would certainly be set well before the end of our 2024 Fall season. WPLL's goal is to offer pricing that will encourage a robust return to a beautiful new complex for the 2025 Spring season.
Return of West Pasco Little League to Pine Hill Park
WPLL and PCPRNR intention will be for the West Pasco Little League program to return to Pine Hill Park at the earliest possible time for the 2025 Spring program. It is currently unsure if preseason evaluations/tryouts would be held at Pine Hill Park as normal or if preseason practices would be held at Pine Hill Park. Given an estimated 10-month renovation plan, starting 5/1/2024 our commitment will be to keep our community's families informed of any changes. PCPRNR is committed to keeping WPLL informed. WPLL is committed to keeping all interested in being informed. The commitment to getting this project completed in as timely a manner as possible is of utmost importance and WPLL will return to the brand new Pine Hill Park at the earliest possible time.
As always please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. You may contact WPLL’s president, Chris Hurtado, via e-mail at [email protected]. Your local elected officials and PCPRNR officials can be contacted on their respective county listed contacts.
Together We are West Pasco Little League!! We are built differently!!!
Gratefully,
West Pasco Little League Board of Directors
