Assistant Coaches are crucial for every team manager. At West Pasco Little League we value our volunteers and give them the support they need and/or seek to be successful. A noncredit background check is required for all league volunteers.
An assistant coach are selected by the team manager of each team. A limit to the number of assistant coaches in the dugout or on the field of play exists; however, some assistant coaches only help during team practices. As an assistant coach you are volunteering and representing West Pasco Little League, the team manager who selected you, and most importantly yourself. To be clear WPLL works with our team managers availability. It is not possible to schedule team events around both a team manager and an assistant. Team practices and team games are set around a team managers availability.
Assistant coaches make such an impact on the players they over see every season. WPLL wants the best for the children and families in our league. Many times volunteers register to be an assistant because they do not believe they are qualified to be a team manager. More often than not this is not the case. If you have an interest in the team manager role WPLL encourages you register for it. Then reach out to the league president via email or via Facebook Messenger and if an assistant role is best for you or just for this upcoming season the role can be adjusted.
Please ensure you, as an assistant coach or any volunteer for WPLL, conduct yourself with the highest levels of ethics. The more knowledge of the game of baseball and/or making the experience for the players rewarding and enjoyable factor into a team manager selecting their assistant coaches. It is not about winning! It is about player development and building a solid foundation with the families of the players on your roster.
If you would like to be considered for an assistant coach please register! Team managers receive this information when they receive their roster each season.
